Of Recent Note At
the 2007 North American
Alpaca Show, there were eight entries of Navigator offspring. It
was an incredible show for them, taking two firsts place ribbons, two
seconds, a third, a fourth and a sixth place. And at MaPACA, all
twelve of Navigator's offspring ribbonned again. He was truly a
proud father.
Chart
your course to color ... with
AABC Navigator. Navigator has sired only gray, black or brown and
has multi-champion
offspring. 30 of his 34 registered offspring (88%) are either
gray or black & 95% are
gray or black when bred
to one of those colors. And, to finish off 2006 with a bang, eleven out of fourteen
of Navigator's registered cria were gray.
We are very pleased that Navigator's first 2007 cria on our farm was a
lovely dark gray female out of our medium gray Patagonia's Platinum, PH
Navigator's Lady Grayce..While deciding not to close Navigator for outside breedings, we are still limiting his breedings. Navigator first caught our eye, and that of many other breeders, at the 2002 All American Alpaca Futurity. This third generation gray and grandson of Macusani has outstanding conformation with solid bone, full coverage throughout, a wonderful presence and disposition and the finest, densest fleece we've ever seen on a gray. Apparently, all the judges thought so too. His numerous awards, before we gave him very early retirement from the show ring after the 2003 MaPaca Jubilee at just 22 months of age, include: Champion & 1st Place 2003 MaPaca Jubilee 2002 Empire Extravaganza Reserve Champion & 1st Place 2002 All American Alpaca Futurity 2002 AOBA Nationals 2006 New England Coastal Classic (Fleece) 1st Place 2002 Coastal Classic 2002 MaPaca Jubilee With Navigator's 22 micron at five years of age, we decided to enter his extraordinary fleece in the 2006 New England Coastal Classic. We were very pleased when it took a Blue Ribbon and a Reserve Championship. We are very proud that his first offspring on our farm, PH Navigator's Commander, has taken Eight Blue Ribbons along with Two Color Championships and Three Reserve Color Championships to date. Commander is certainly well on his way to match his father's impressive show record. And Navigator's second male off our farm, Bel Canto's Sinbad of Bel Canto Farms, took a Second at the All American Futurity as well as a Blue Ribbon at the 2006 Empire Extravaganza, giving Navigator two Blue Ribbon winners in large black classes at the Extravaganza. Reservations for limited outside breedings are being accepted. Breeding Fee $4,500 Co-owned with Ameripaca Alpaca Breeding Company NA Peruvian / Chilean. ARI # 828686 ~ 5

Of Recent Note Commander
takes his Eighth Blue Ribbon at the 2007 North American Alpaca
Show. At 2 1/2 years of age, with no white markings and his solid true black
& gray genetics, he
continues
to impress the judges, as well as everyone else at the show.
And now, we are pleased to announce our new partnership of Navigator's Commander with Deb & Ray Cilley of Spring Pond Farm. This new partnership completes the "trifecta" with our two other Spring Pond Farm partnerships of A.L. Paca's Rose to the Occasion and Legacy's Legend. Commander has a number of confirmed pregnancies and he's going to be very busy at Parris Hill Farm this summer and fall. This
true black outstanding herd sire commands your attention!
Commander is out of our multiple Color
Champion gray
herdsire, Navigator, and was a real show stopper. His dam,
Chocolat,
has
once again given us a blue ribbon
winner. Her first offspring, PH Black
Epic's Noreen, was a blue
ribbon winner at the largest alpaca show in the country.
Commander's extremely soft, shiny fleece
exhibits very bold,
wide
amplitude crimp
similar to his dam and his half sister.
Commander's grandparents, on both sides, have exceptional
genetics. After much
pre-show attention, we were
very proud that Commander earned a Blue
Ribbon, along with a Reserve
Championship, in his first
show ring appearance at the 2005 SEPA Alpaca Show.
Following that debut, Commander then stood tall once again four weeks
later and took a Blue Ribbon
and a Color
Championship at the Breeder's Choice Futurity at Magical
Farms. To quote the judge, "This young male, the youngest in the
class, is conformationally correct and phenotypically perfect. I
see here a fine, dense fleece, not common in dark animals, that
displays wonderful brightness and abundant character." And, to
finish off his first show season, at the 2005 Empire Alpaca
Extravaganza,
with 50 black males entered, Commander took his third Blue Ribbon in an extremely
competitive class, followed by another well deserved Color Championship. In 2006
& so far in 2007,
Commander has gone on to take five more blue ribbons and 2 more
Championship banners. His tally of 5 Championship Banners and 8 Blue Ribbons certainly puts him on
par with his outstanding sire and we look forward to a very successful
breeding career for this exceptional, true black male.Introductory Breeding Fee $3,000 Co-owned with Spring Pond Farm NA 7/8 Peruvian (1/4 Accoyo) / 1/8 Chilean. ARI # 1091861 GARRISON Dark Brown Male DOB: 10/16/02 Sire: Jeronimo S282 (Fawn) Dam: MFI Grand Marquese (Dark Brown) ~ 9

Of Recent Note
At
the 2007 North
American Alpaca
Show, there were five entries of Challenger offspring. They took
one first, two seconds (one to the eventual Color Champion), a fourth
and a sixth. It was quite a show for Challenger and his kids.
PH
Camelot's
Challenger, our dark brown male with black points, won his first two Blue Ribbons and a Color Championship at eight months
of age and took his third Blue Ribbon
at the 2004 North American
Alpaca Show as the youngest yearling in a class of 14. He then
went on to take a 2nd Place at
the highly competitive 2004 All American Alpaca Futurity, a 2nd Place in composite at the 2004
AOBA Nationals and another Blue Ribbon
at the 2004 Empire Extravaganza. And, just
recently, he earned his fifth Blue
Ribbon
at the 2005 North American Alpaca Show and his sixth under Dr. Julio
Sumar at the 2005
MaPaca Jubilee, the world's largest show with 1,600 halter
entries. Challenger has solid bone and crimpy fine dense fleece with incredible coverage from his nose to his toes. His one year staple length at the 2004 shearing measured almost seven inches and we sheared over 10 pounds of fleece off him in 2005! All these qualities are hard to find in a dark animal. Challenger's sire, 5P Camelot, was the importer's choice to keep for his own breeding program. As Challenger was awarded a Championship banner, this "impressive male" was described by Judges Safley and VandenBosch as "the complete package". With the arrival of the 2007 spring show season, we look forward to Challenger's offspring entering the show ring. And, to start off the parade of ribbon winners, his first offspring to step forward was Pax River's Geneva, a beautiful rose gray female who took a Blue Ribbon in her first show at the Virginia Classic, followed by her second Blue Ribbon at the Maryland Alpaca Show. Congratulations Sue & Don Roche! His first offspring at Parris Hill Farm, PH Challenger's Santa Lucia, is a beautiful medium brown female out of our true black dam, Enchantment's Santa Clara. When
we bought Adrastea at the
Breeder's Choice Futurity & Sale, we fell in love with her soft
handle (17 AFD) and we had suspicions that this
lovely beige girl, with dark pigmentation and gray fiber at her skin
and in her
topknot, would very likely throw something very special. And she
did just that! Everyone marvels at Gun Smoke's color. In our ten
years showing, we've never had as many compliments about an
alpaca's color. Taupe
is the description most used. He has been shown in three
different
color classses - dark brown, dark rose gray and indefinite dark.
As
varied as his color classes have been, Gun Smoke has
ribboned in every class he's entered. Most recently, Smoke took a
Second Place at the 2007 North
American Alpaca Show and his Third
Blue Ribbon at the 2007 PAOBA Breeder's Showcase. In 2006,
he took his first Blue
Ribbon at
the New
England
Coastal Classic and a Blue
Ribbon and a Color Championship
at the Empire Extravaganza. ![]() Gun Smoke is sired by MFI Pistol, a black Dakotia son. After Dakotia's untimely death, Magical Farms decided to retire Pistol from the show ring at only 18 months of age. Even with his early retirement, Pistol earned three championships and seven blue ribbons (including two consecutive blue ribbons for his fleece at the 2003 & 2004 AOBA Nationals). Pistol was truly one of Magical Farm's elite herd sires and, in the fall of 2006, sold at auction for $230,000. Gun Smoke is a "chip off the block" and is stunning. He is very square with perfect proportions and his fiber is extremely soft (17.9 AFD) and very crimpy. 5 Get-of-Sire Blues Of Recent Note
At the 2007 North American Alpaca Show, our own Aga Khan male juvenile, King Khan, took a well-deserved second place to the White Color Champion. In her orals about King and the Color Champion, the judge commented that "her placement was not meant to take anything away from the young male standing second, as the two standing at the head of this class could change positions at any given show". And, at the 2007 PAOBA show, The Khan entered his first Get of Sire with our King Khan and two of his other offspring and took his 20th Blue Ribbon in a competitive class of eleven sires, many of whom were prior blue ribbon winning "gets". He has now gone on to win four more Blues in Get of Sire The
Aga Khan is an
incredible package of magnificent
fleece,
super conformation and
incomparable genetics. These attributes have deservedly earned
him Eleven Championships and Twenty Two 1st Place Ribbons,
including five Championship Banners in 2004, four Championship Banners
in
2005 and, at 4 years of age,
two Championship Banners in
2006.His fleece is bright white, has high frequency bold crimp and his density is "second to none" and hard to put into words. "Thick as a
brick" comes to mind. Khan has a
solid build and a gorgeous head with a crimpy topknot. This 3/4
Accoyo herd
sire has already proven himself to be one of the best white males
in the country. We are particularly excited to see Khan's first
crias and they indicate that Khan, more than likely, has a brown color
recessive. He has sired crias from dark
brown with black points to medium fawn and all
the way to pure
bright white! Speaking of white cria, our own PH King Khan is something
to behold,
particularly his fleece.
Khan's
exceptional white fleece characteristics will certainly stamp something very special
on the
fleece of
any colored offspring. Now, his young offspring are starting to make their own mark in the showring. On the same weekend this fall, a white Khan female took a Blue Ribbon at just 6 months and 2 days. And, a fawn Khan male, Amerikhan Legend, took the Blue and the Color Championship at 6 months and 2 weeks. Not only did judge Tim Lavin award Legend the Championship as the youngest in the lineup, a very rare event in itself, but in his orals he stated, "If you only see one fleece this weekend, this is the one to see! It's so dense, nothing gets by the tips of this fiber." And to finish off 2006, at seven months of age, Legend took his Second Blue Ribbon and a Reserve Championship at the Carolina Classic. His first 2007 cria at Parris Hill is a brilliant white female out of Augusto's Sydney, PH Khanstellation. The Khan's lineage includes Vengador and Allin Capaca, the two sons of Shere Khan from the Accoyo Ranch, perhaps the most recognized and famous herdsire in Peru. Aga Khan and Shere Khan share many of the same attributes, including the extraordinary density of their fleeces, their overall fiber coverage and the compactness of their frames. This is a male that has to be seen, and touched, to be fully appreciated! Limited outside breedings. Breeding Fee $7,500 Co-Owned with A.L. Paca's Farm & Fireweed Farm Photos courtesy of A.L. carrying on the success of his parents.
His dam, AML Stephanie, is a multiple Blue Ribbon winner with
consistent
top-of-the-line offspring on the ground. His sire, the
incomparable Accoyo 4P
Legacy, was a multiple champion and the 2002 AAA Futurity
Herd Sire of
the Year as well as the 2005
AAA Futurity Reserve Light Herd Sire of the Year. Early in
2006, half interest
(!) in Legacy
sold for an incredible $750,000!!
Legend's offspring, including our own PH Legend's Super Silas
with his grand
stature and his lustrous fleece already showing great character and
bundling, have impressed all. Proudly, Legend has placed in every white class he's
entered, by far the most competitive class in all the shows, both for
quality and number of entries. Legend took 1st
Place
at the 2002 Coastal Classic, 1st
Place at the
2002 Empire Extravaganza and 3rd
Place at the 2004 North American Alpaca Show and again at the
2004 Nationals.
And, his 2006 fleece, at four years of age, took a Blue Ribbon at the New England
Coastal Classic. Legend stands
bolt upright, has
solid big bone and
his bright white fleece,
just under 16 pounds at his
2005 shearing, has incredible staple length and is soft and dense with
very bold crimp right down his
legs and over his toes! From his offspring in 2007, we are pleased to see that Legend is allowing the color of the dam to come through. A wonderful example on our farm is the first cria of the season for us, PH Legend's Katmandu, a handsome medium fawn male out of our dark brown dam, PH Peruvian Bobcat's Katarina. We've been waiting for our first fawn boy and we think we have something special. Can't wait for the spring show season! Limited outside breedings. We
often heard it said by a number of very well-respected breeders that an
Augusto / Legacy
cross is a sure
winner. Thus, our decision to "introduce" our Sydney to our
Legend. Super Silas has definitely confirmed that sentiment for
us ... and the
legendary Accoyo 3P Augusto and Accoyo 4P Legacy
have worked their
wonders again. Silas is particularly proud of his grand sire on
his sire's side, Legacy, whose half-interest just sold for
$750,000! Silas is a striking male with solid confirmation,
straight lines, good bone, great fleece and just the right amount of
attitude. His very soft fleece
(AFD 19.8, SD 3.1, CV 15.7, % >30 1.1) exhibits very pronounced
bundling, is
bright white and carries tight crimp right down to the skin.
Sydney has been one of our favorites from the time she was born and we
couldn't be more
pleased with her first cria. Showing whites at
large shows is always a challenge and we were extremely pleased when
Silas
took a Second Place
ribbon out of a class of 15 in his first show
at the 2006 North American Alpaca Show. He continues to ribbon in
very competitive classes and took another Second Place at the New England
Coastal Classic. At the Empire Extravaganza, Judge Mike Safley
described Silas as "a credit to a
superior breeding program". And to finish off his fall
show season, Silas took a well deserved Blue Ribbon at the Green Mountain
Alpaca Fall Spectacular (a Level 4 show) in a class described by the
judge as having
"exceptional quality throughout."NA 3/4 Peruvian (1/4 Accoyo), 1/4 Bolivian ARI # 1089066 If you have any
